Love Will Light The Way…

Hello all. This afternoon I spent doing much of nothing. A little laundry, a cat nap or two, and watching movies. One of the movies I watched left me in tears which of course means that it was great. And it also means I need to share it with all of you. And that you NEED to watch it. The movie is Midnight Sun.

MIDNIGHT SUN is a romantic tearjerker about 17-year-old Katie Price (Bella Thorne), sheltered at home since childhood with a rare genetic condition, a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight. Having only her father Jack (Rob Riggle) for company, Katie’s world opens up after dark when she ventures outside to play her guitar.

One night, her dreams come true when she’s noticed and asked out by her longtime crush Charlie (Patrick Schwarzenegger), whom she’s secretly watched from her bedroom window for years. As they embark on nightly summer excursions, Katie’s risk to sunlight grows and she’s presented with the gut-wrenching dilemma of whether she can live a normal life with her newfound soul mate...

This movie took me on such an emotional rollercoaster. And more than that, I could honestly see myself in them. In the way the father loves his daughter. In the way the best friends, Morgan and Katie, love each other. In the way Katie and Charlie fall for each other.

The shared memories, the happiness, the sadness, the emotion, all of it made the movie and pulled you in and kept you close until the very end. And even after.

Life is never easy. For some, it’s even harder. And life is never, ever fair. But somehow, some way, love always makes it better. Even if for just a moment…

40 years and counting…

Good morning all. As I sit here writing this, I can’t help but to watch the clock, waiting for midnight, for October 2nd to roll over into October 3rd. Why? No, not for my break time (I work nights). The reason is simple:

On October 3rd, I will forever leave my 30’s behind. Yep, that’s right, I will join the group of 40 year olds.

By the time you read this, you will no longer be reading a blog post written by a 39 year old woman but from a 40 year old woman.

Big difference? Maybe….

There are those familiar sayings about a person turning forty. You know the ones:

  • Over the hill
  • Your life is half over
  • One foot in the grave
  • It’s all downhill from here

They go on and on. Now I’m not going to lie. Turning 40 makes me feel a tad bit depressed. I mean, I have been alive and on this Earth for 40 years and I don’t know, I just thought I would have done more with my time.

BUT….

I refuse to dig myself into a pit of despair about all of the things I have not done or the places I’ve never been. Instead, I want to think about everything I have experienced in my last 40 years.

1. I didn’t finish high school

BUT…

I got my G.E.D.

2. I worked on a stinky chicken farm

BUT…

I met my best friend in the whole world

3. Unfortunately I had to quit college

BUT…

I have a very good paying job

WITH…

A great partner

4. I got married…and divorced

BUT…

I met and married my soul mate

5. I didn’t have the twins I always wanted

BUT…

I did have two beautiful children

AND…

became a step mom to another beautiful child

6. I’m not living in some million dollar mansion

BUT…

I did purchase an even better, cozy, loving home with my wonderful husband

7. I didn’t get on become a NY Times Bestsellers List or sign a movie deal based on my books (YET…)

BUT…

I did become a published author!

P.S. The 3rd full length book in The Perfect Order series is in the early stages…

So, to sum it all up:

I may not have accomplished everything I wanted to in the way I wanted to…

And I may not have “The Perfect Life”…

But what I have accomplished is amazing to me

And what I do have, the LIFE I have, is perfect for me.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Enjoy!

HAPPY V-DAY!!!

Good morning everyone. Today is Valentine’s Day!

image

The OFFICIAL Day of love.

image

First, I want to say: Why only show love ONE day a year? It SHOULD be everyday.  Come on people, life is too short to tell those you love how you feel.  Tell them NOW!!

image

There, now that I got that out of my system, I will move on. 😌

I know a lot of people go all out all out buying gifts

image

For women, gifts tend to be:

FLOWERS

image

CHOCOLATE

image

JEWELRY

image

OR A ROMANTIC DINNER

image

For men, the gifts usually include things like:

TIES

image

WATCHES

image

OR SPORTS TICKETS

image

But whether the gifts are super expensive

image

Or maybe not so expensive

image

They are given with love.

image

So for this Valentine’s Day, spend it with the ones you love

image

and take a moment and give them a hug

image

Because after all, it’s Valentine’s Day

image

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! Enjoy!!

Wanna see a great movie?

Hello everyone. Ok I am a lover of all kinds of things-books, music, movies. But once in awhile one of these things just stands out and continues to stay with me. This time it’s a movie called The Best of Me. Have you seen it? If not, you should. It is AMAZING!!

image

It features an incredible cast:

James Marsden (Party of Five, 27 Dresses, Disturbing Behavior):

image

Michelle Monaghan (Made of Honor, Eagle Eye, Ghost Protocol) as Amanda:

image

Luke Bracey (Dance Academy, G.I.) as a young Dawson:

image

Liana Liberato (Trust) as a young Amanda:

image

And Gerald McRaney (Major Dad) as Tuck:

image

First of all, this movie is from Nicholas Sparks, the king of Romance. You will know what I’m talking about if you have ever seen The Notebook, The Longest Ride, Dear John, or A Walk to Remember. So just by that alone, you know it’s going to be good. A real heart stopper and a real tear jerker.

I don’t want to ruin the movie for you so I will just tell you the basics.

A boy from a bad family (Dawson) falls for a good girl from an upscale family (Amanda). She falls for him just as hard. And when Dawson’s father bears him, he runs away and finds shelter with a widower named Tuck.

The teenager’s love is evident and you just know they will be together. But then, of course, tragedy strikes and rips the two apart.

20 years later, they have a second chance to be together. And it seems like they finally will but then tragedy strikes again. What happens next? You will have to watch it to find out.

image

But let me say this. This movie will make you believe in the power of true love, the realness of destiny, and the mystery of life. It is one that will make you laugh, make you cry, steal your heart, and capture your soul. I have added the trailer link for you below. Do yourself a favor and check it out today. You won’t be sorry. Enjoy!!

Life Lessons…..

I have only been on this Earth for 37 years, 35 months, and 16 days but I have learned quite a bit in that time. Not only my ABCs and numbers but also more important, deep lessons as well. It doesnt matter who you are, where your from, and what’s happened in your life, these are basic ideas that everyone should live by.

1. Always treat others as you would like to be treated. (everyone knows this one but a lot of people don’t follow it)

2. Never give up. (life is very hard and full of problems but to give up is to give in…)

3. Fight for what you believe in. (if it matters to you, deep in your heart, then fighting for it is always worth it)

4. Stand up for yourself. (there are a lot of people in this world that will take advantage of you if you let them. Don’t)

5. Live as if there is no tomorrow. (no one knows how much time we have so make the most of everyday. Carpe Diem-Seize the Day!)

6. Show the ones that you love that you love them everyday. (telling them is great but actions speak louder than words)

7. Give each effort your all. (no matter what task lays before you, do it to the best of your ability each and every time and take pride in your efforts)

8. Respect those around you. (we are all human beings and we all have hearts and emotions-don’t trample on either of them)

9. Lead by example. (whether or not you have children, you should always teach by your actions)

10. Accept responsibility for your mistakes. (no one is perfect. We all have flaws and we screw up. But recognize the mistakes you made, own them, and them learn from them.

11. Accept who you are and love it. (we can’t all be super models and actors but each of us has a special talent whether it be teaching, drawing, or even being a wonderful friend to someone. Embrace the things that make you you)

12. Have a little fun. (unfortunately most of us have to work and we have to work hard to make a living. But don’t forget to have fun. Because without it, life will be even harder than it is already and who wants that?)

I think if we all follow these simple ideas and apply them, then our lives, and the lives of those around us, will be that much fuller.
