Here to tantalize us…Maggie

Hello all. Today on Tantalizing Tuesday, I have the great and powerful Maggie Mundy and her book, Scarred Protector.

Good morning Maggie. I’m so glad your here. The cover of your book looks amazing. Can you tell us what your novel is about?

Absolutely. Better than that, I’ll give you the blurb:

Angels and demons are not what you think. They are aliens, and the Midworlders are their representatives on Earth.
An Angelic Midworlder called Heath goes to the aid of Evie who is about to be attacked by Demonics. He soon discovers she can see the angels and demons around her and is in grave danger. He is captivated by Evie who has physical and mental scars like him. They are tortured souls who are deeply connected by his past. There is an evil lurking inside Evie that could kill them both.

This sounds like a great book. Like something that would stay with you long after you turn the last page. Do you have an author that makes you feel like that?

That is easy. Jane Austen. I have read all her books so many times and love the language and the stories. I loved the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I still enjoy Colin Firth in a wet shirt when I rewatch it.

I LOVE that book. The movie is great too. Books and music just have a way of moving you. Speaking of which, what was your very first concert?

I went to see Queen, in the UK at a small venue called The Colston Hall. Freddy Mercury was as good live, as he was on record. He wore a white lycra one piece and strutted across the stage. I consider myself extremely lucky to have seen him.

How amazing! Their music is really good. If you could go to another concert, who would you love to see?

I would like to see Adele if she comes to Australia. I think her voice is amazing and touches me emotionally.

I love her music, especially her new song Hello. I sing it all the time. (Not well though 😌) It’s pretty embarrassing. Have you done anything embarassing that still makes you still blush today?

When I was in my early twenties, I went to Europe and one day went swimming naked in a local river with friends. We thought it was isolated spot until a tour boat came down the river and all the passengers cheered as they went passed.

LOL. That is hilarious! I’ve never done that but I did about pass out the first time I got a tattoo. Mostly because I was so scared. But I’m over that now. I want more actually. How about you? Have any tattoos?

I don’t have any tattoos, but my daughters both have some beautiful ones that all have special meanings to them.

Yeah, I wouldn’t just any random tattoo. I want my tats to mean something. But if you were to get one, what would you want?

I have written a woman’s fiction in which the heroine gets a tattoo that says, live, laugh, love. I have said if it gets published I would have that tattooed on me. There, now the world knows the promise.

You’ll have to take a picture and show us how awesome it looks. 😀  Being published is a great thing. I love it. What is the best thing about being an author for you?

Finishing a manuscript and thinking to yourself that you have created a story people will want to read. I would love to be rich and famous but more than that I want people to enjoy my books. When you get a great review, or someone you meet says they like your work, it makes it all worthwhile.

I totally agree. To be rich and famous would be great but I love hearing how much people enjoy my writing more. So where can your fans find you?

Here to tantalize us…Mandi!

Hi everyone! I want to introduce you to a wonderful author and her new book, To Rome with Love.

Hi Mandi!  Its so nice to have you on my new segment, Tantalizing Tuesdays. I know how exciting it is to have a new book released. Why don’t you tell us about yours.

To Rome With Love placed fifth in the 2014 Heart-to-Heart competition run by the San Francisco branch of RWA, and is the first in a series called Love in the City.

Wow! Congratulations! What an honor. If you could sum up your book in one sentence, what would it be?

It’s a sexy tale of a funny and talented soon-to-be-divorcee chef trying to resist the irresistible in a city made for temptation.

Sounds sexy alright. I’m intrigued but come on, can’t you give us a little more? Pretty please….

When Gaby Conte’s Italian husband, Danieli, abandons her for a young Peruvian waitress at a restaurant they co-own in San Francisco, Gaby seeks refuge in Rome with her best friend Maria. There, she swears off romance for a long while and Italian men forever. That’s until she meets Silvio, who belongs to an old, aristocratic Roman family and lives in a palace alongside the best private art collection in Rome.

Silvio, who is the cousin of Maria’s husband, is going through his own divorce. He’s gorgeous, of course, which Gaby doesn’t tell him. And arrogant and condescending, which she does. The last thing Gaby needs is more Italian trouble, but the attraction is instant and powerful, and against the backdrop of one of the world’s most romantic cities, both try—and fail—to resist the chemistry between them.

But both Gaby and Silvio have made a rule never to make the mistake of trusting in love again. Will they realize some rules are made just to be broken?

Oh man, this sounds like an amazing book! Now that we know more about it, could you answer a few questions to let the readers know more about you?

Great! Let me know what you need from me.

1. What inspired you to become a writer?

I’ve been a voracious reader from day oneI love words. The power they have when strung together has always shocked and delighted me. Particularly if you consider they are merely static symbols on a page. And I love stories, which truly are the currency of human life (and look like they’ll survive longer than the European Union.)

I published my first piece of fiction, a short story, when I was twelve, growing up in England. But I didn’t ever consider the life of a writer. I wanted to be a lawyer. One term of contracts and torts quickly disabused me of that notion. My sister suggested I try journalism school and I did and I got my degree and started as a reporter for papers and magazines like the LA Times and the San Francisco Examiner, (now the S.F Chronicle), the San Jose Mercury News, W magazine, Travel & Leisure and more. I loved working in non-fiction, and looking for a new challenge, decided to venture into fiction, a very different-and much harder-animal to tame. So far I love it!

2. Isn’t it crazy how you start out planning to so one thing and end up somewhere totally different? Okay, next question. What is one thing most people would be surprised to learn about you?

that I love the concept of American diners.

3. There are so many different diners, it can really blow your mind. So, who is your all time favorite author?

That’s impossible to answer! Here are three: Henry James, Thomas Hardy, Edith Wharton

4. Great choices! It’s so hard to choose sometimes. All right, so what is the hardest thing about being an author?

A blank screen

5. OMG! You nailed it there. I absoulty hate a blank screen. So daunting…Okay, last question. Where is the one place you would go if you could go anywhere?

To Rome

Ha ha, should have known. 😄 Mandi, I want to thank you so much for sharing. I can’t wait to read your book. When does it get released?

To Rome With Love is being released Feb. 10.

Right before Valentine’s Day. How perfect is that? Where can readers find it?
